Building the Next Generation of Australia-Africa Diplomacy.

Program Vision

The Emerging Leaders in Australia-Africa Diplomacy (ELAAD) program serves as a critical bridge between academic rigor and diplomatic practice. Our vision is to enhance ‘Australia-Africa literacy’—fostering a deep understanding of the socio-political and economic landscapes that enable our continents to work together in equal partnership.

Creating a sustainable trans-continental network of postgraduate students and junior-to-mid-career diplomats.

Knowledge Leadership

Engaging with senior scholars and practitioners to generate innovative policy recommendations for global challenges.

02. Participation

Eligibility & Nominations

This program is highly selective and relies on institutional nominations rather than open applications.

  • Age: Fellows must be 20–35 years old.
  • Students: Enrolled Masters in IR, Diplomacy, or Law.
  • Diplomats: Current national or intergovernmental post.

03. Methodologies

Program Structure

Delivery

12 collaborative virtual seminar sessions delivered fortnightly over six months.

No Cost

The virtual program is delivered at no cost to nominated and selected Fellows.

Accreditation

While no degree is granted, all participants receive a Certificate of Participation.

Final Output: Fellows collaborate on a joint publication featuring policy recommendations for Australia-Africa relations.
